Getting started
What to expect when you reach out.
Knowing what happens next can make the first call easier. Here's how getting started with Openings usually works.
From first contact to first appointment
- 1
Call or send a request
Call us or use the Request a Call form. You only need to share your name and how to reach you.
- 2
A conversation with our team
Someone from Openings will talk with you about what's going on, answer questions, and explain the services that may fit.
- 3
Scheduling and paperwork
Our staff will help you arrange an appointment and explain any paperwork to complete before or at your first visit.
- 4
Your first visit
Your first session usually focuses on getting to know you and understanding your goals. You can ask questions at any point.

Preparing for your first visit
Our team will tell you what to bring when you schedule. In the meantime, it can help to:
- Jot down questions you'd like to ask
- Think about what you'd most like to change or get help with
- If a court or agency referred you, have their contact information handy and ask us whether any paperwork they gave you is helpful

For families and friends
Supporting someone you care about
Watching someone you love struggle with substance use or mental health can be exhausting and frightening. You don't need to have all the answers to help.
- You can call Openings to ask general questions about our services
- Share our number with your loved one so they can reach out when they're ready
- Ask about family counseling, which can support you as well
Because of privacy rules, our team may not be able to share information about another adult's care without their written permission.
